    Nature Nuts: Summer! (Ages 3-4)

    Description

    Bring your toddler to explore nature with Nature Nuts! What’s a butterfly’s favorite flower? Why do bees dance? How do seeds grow? This month we’ll be exploring pollinators and plants! There will be fun outdoor and hands-on activities including stories, crafts, games, and live animal interactions.

    This program is for children age 3-4 and their adult caregivers. Caregivers must remain with the child attending the class. You are welcome to bring children under 12 months to an older sibling's class at no additional fee.

    This is a four-week course, with the option to purchase single classes. Classes take place every Wednesday, 10-11am, from June 5-June 26. Class dates are June 5, June 12, June 19, June 26.

    Registration Information

    Cost: $50/member caregiver and child 4-week series*, $70/non-member caregiver and child 4-week series, $12.50/member single class, $17.50/non-member single class

    *Caregivers must remain with the child attending the class. You are welcome to bring children under 12 months to an older sibling’s class at no additional fee. Attending siblings 12 months or older should be registered for the class.

    Family Yoga on the Terrace

    Description

    Join us for an energizing family-friendly yoga class on our beautiful outdoor terrace. Practice your tree pose while in the midst of the beauty of Lincoln Park. This class is appropriate for adults bringing children 12 and under. BYO mat.

    Museum admission is included with your yoga ticket!

    Cost: $12/adult member, $15/adult non-member, $8/child member, $10/child non-member

    Space is limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the class. Must register online in advance; no drop-ins.

    Family registrations strongly encouraged. Interested in signing up as a single participant? Check out our Butterfly Haven Yoga sessions for adults.

    In the event of inclement weather, the class will be held indoors in our South Gallery.

    Forever Gone – Extinction and the Case for Ecological Reparations

    Description

    Join us for an evening with renowned author and naturalist Drew Lanham for his talk Forever Gone – Extinction and the Case for Ecological Reparations.

    Doors open at 6pm, and lecture begins at 6:30pm.

    A native of Edgefield, South Carolina, J. Drew Lanham is the author of "The Home Place: Memoirs of a Colored Man’s Love Affair with Nature," which received the Reed Award from the Southern Environmental Law Center and the Southern Book Prize, and was a finalist for the John Burroughs Medal. He is a birder, naturalist, and hunter-conservationist who has published essays and poetry in publications including "Orion, Audubon, Flycatcher, and Wilderness," and in several anthologies, including "The Colors of Nature," "State of the Heart," "Bartram’s Living Legacy," and "Carolina Writers at Home." An Alumni Distinguished Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Master Teacher at Clemson University, he and his family live in the Upstate of South Carolina, a soaring hawk’s downhill glide from the southern Appalachian escarpment that the Cherokee once called the Blue Wall.
