We’re so excited to share the first episode of Curious By Nature Season 2. We’ve got some great fall-themed activities planned for the next couple months, and we’re starting things off today with our great friend, artist Katherine Lampert! Katherine has an awesome at-home art craft using sunlight to print patterns from nature objects. Click the thumbnail to check it out and then keep exploring with the activities below.

Scientists identify different plants by examining the shapes of leaves. Discover how to “catch” a leaf shadow in this fun activity, and learn how to observe and describe different leaf shapes. Be sure to share with us what shadows you catch!

Let’s keep exploring plants! Our newest Wonder Workbook is the second volume in our plants series and explores local plants through activities, nature walks, and more! Click here to download this great at-home resource.

Join facilitators Airen and Jeanette virtually on Saturday, October 10, to learn about bird migration during Curious By Nature LIVE! We’ll investigate different birds in our Museum collections and their strategies for surviving in fall and winter. This workshop is designed with students 5-9 years old in mind, but curious kids of all ages are welcome! Click here to register.
