Although there are some cicada species that only emerge every 13 or 17 years, there are plenty of annual species that emerge every summer. They’re a common sight around the Nature Museum, and the sound they make can almost be overwhelming! But how do they make that sound? It’s all thanks to a special organ called the tymbal.
