Join the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum on Saturday, May 22, at 11:30am, for a virtual program showcasing our partnership to conserve the state endangered Blanding’s turtle!
Meet scientists and staff as they share their work in the field, go behind the scenes at Willowbrook Wildlife Center as they incubate fertile eggs, and stop by the Nature Museum where hatchlings are closely monitored and raised. Plus, join last year’s hatchlings and two-year-olds for a live virtual meet-and-greet! This free program is perfect for all ages. Click here to register!

We’re also excited to offer an in-person guided turtle walk as part of our World Turtle Day celebration! Join us on Saturday, May 22, as we look for, and learn about, the turtles that call the North Pond area home! Space is limited. Register for free here.

The smooth greensnake is another species that we are working to conserve. Although they’re different types of reptiles, you might notice some similarities in how both Blanding’s turtles and smooth greensnakes care for their young.
