Photography by David Weinberg
OPENING APRIL 29, 2023
“Nature reveals itself in so many intriguing ways. A stroll through the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum speaks to this rich variety of products of the Earth. The photographer has an opportunity to not only marvel at the different forms that nature takes but to be able to capture those differences using his/her imagination. I imagined colorful flowers which are usually docile, standing in a vase, as vibrant blurs of color and form. I did this by reflecting them in Mylar that pulsated in the wind. I captured floating objects in a lake using infrared photography that highlighted the lights and darks. For this exhibit I chose to intermingle Foil Flowers with Currents and Tides so that visitors would be challenged to ask, ‘Why?'”
