“Flutter into Fall” at the Nature Museum on Sunday, September 12, with a day-long celebration of our beloved butterflies and the grand opening of our exhibit, Weather to Climate: Our Changing World.
Participate in monarch butterfly tagging demos, guided plant walks, multiple butterfly releases, a special butterfly-themed story time, and more! Explore our special program schedule below, and explore the Museum from 10am to 4pm.

Weather to Climate
Member Preview 9am | Grand Opening 10am
Weather to Climate presents the fundamentals of weather and climate, and explains how the two phenomena are connected through fun interactives and engaging content. Members can explore the exhibit one hour before it opens to the public.
10am | 12pm | 1pm
Wish migrating monarch butterflies ‘good luck’ as they begin their incredible journey from Chicago to Mexico where they will spend the winter! Assist our scientists as they tag and release local monarch butterflies.
Guided Plant Walk

Explore and learn about the beautiful plants all around the Museum grounds. Join our manager of horticulture, Seth, to learn about these important native plants and the role they play in the lives of our local pollinators.
Story Time with Open Books
