Specimens & Exhibits Behind The Scenes: Meet the Collections Team

Find out what goes on behind the scenes with our collections team! Meet Senior Director of Collections Dawn and her team as they highlight unique exhibit specimens, including eagles and shorebirds. They’ll also showcase beautifully-preserved botany specimens that have never been displayed. Plus, you’ll have the chance to take home your own Mazon Creek fossil!
This drop-by program is appropriate for all ages and included with admission. No registration required.

Botany Mounting Session and Collections Tour
Friday, January 13 | 1-5pm
Help make our natural history collections available for anyone to use, and get a tour of our Ravenswood Collections Facility! At this event, you will help our Collections Team mount botanical specimens for our herbarium. By participating, you can help prepare these specimens for the Academy’s scientific collection, make them accessible for study, and improve their preservation. Plus, you’ll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of our collections facility!
This event is most appropriate for those 18 years and up. Registration is free, but required. Space is very limited.
