Sound Environments: Rivers Empyrean Concert
Saturday, April 18, 2020
6pm to 8pm

The widely acclaimed Chicago-based Fifth House Ensemble brings an evening-length concert performance of original compositions inspired by nature sounds, ecological data, and First Peoples.

At a time when the environment is more threatened than ever with pollution, and our life-giving waterways are at risk, Rivers Empyrean traces the life cycle of water from rain to rivers. This program asks what it would mean to consider humans as part of nature rather than beings standing outside its impact.

Featuring a new commision by Patrick O'Malley driven by data from Friends of the Chicago River, and a new commission by Shawn Okpebholo that celebrates water as a precious resource by transforming it into a musical instrument, alongside music inspired First Peoples.

Doors open at 5:30pm, concert begins at 6:30pm. A cash bar will be available.
