We’re also thrilled to announce that starting Monday, April 11, the Museum building will be open 7 days a week! Join us every day, from 10am to 4pm, to experience your favorite exhibits, your favorite daily programs, and to visit with your favorite Nature Museum animals!

Virtual Story Time with the Chicago Public Library
Tuesday, April 12 | 9:15am
Visit with the colorful, winged inhabitants of the Judy Istock Butterfly Haven for a very special virtual story time! Librarian Megan will join staff from the museum to learn all about butterflies and read books about them. You’ll even get to help decide what we learn about in this interactive virtual story time and tour!
For families of children 2 and up.

Arts & Crafts with Lillstreet
Tuesday, April 12 | 11am
Stop by the Nature Museum from 11am to 2pm and craft your own piece of spring with the Lillstreet Art Center! All materials are provided. Registration is not required, and this drop-by program is free with admission!

Mammals & More
Thursday, April 14 | 11am
Join our special guests from the Flying Fox Conservation Fund to learn about some of the most unique animals in the world! Get up close with a sloth, an armadillo, and more! Registration is required.
Cost: $6-$10
This program requires masks and proof of vaccination for guests ages 5+.

Xochitl-Quetzal Aztec Dance
Friday, April 15 | 11am
Explore nature, arts, and culture with a performance by Xochitl-Quetzal Aztec Dance company! Experience a vibrant performance honoring the heritage and culture of the Indigenous tradition of Flor y Canto of ancient Mexico. Registration is required.
Cost: $6-$19
This program requires masks and proof of vaccination for guests ages 5+.

Insect Pinning
Saturday, April 16 | 11am
Take a piece of tropical nature home with you from our workshop led by Allen, our associate curator of entomology! Learn the ins and outs of insect pinning with a demonstration and guided instruction on pinning procedure and techniques, using giant butterflies and cockroaches. Leave this workshop with your very own pinned specimens for display. Registration is required.
While this class is designed for participants 18 years old and older, 12 to 18 year olds are also welcome. Check out our registration details to learn more.
