Kids Winter Art Workshop

Please Note: Online registration is now closed.
Join Easel Art Studio for a hands-on art workshop! Channel your inner artist and make your own winter cardinal. We will be using plaster, clay, and paint to create an adorable winter bird. This workshop allows young artists to try a little bit of everything and gives students a wide variety of art making experiences. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
Space is limited. Registration online in advance is strongly encouraged.
This class is designed for children in grades 1-3; however, all ages are most welcome!

Xochitl-Quetzal Danza Azteca Live Performance

Join the Nature Museum and explore nature, arts and culture with Xochitl-Quetzal Aztec Dance company. Experience a vibrant performance honoring the heritage and culture of the Indigenous tradition of Flor y Canto of ancient Mexico.
Xochitl-Quetzal means “Precious Flower” in Nahuatl, the Aztec language.
All ages welcome!

Lunch & Treats from The Evolved Network

Purchase delicious treats from The Evolved Network from 11am to 1pm! The Evolved Network’s mission is unconditional care through a holistic and therapeutic approach that functions to build a foundation for youth through their creation of a farm to table dining experience! Mac and cheese, lobster and broccoli mac and cheese, and chocolate chip and coconut cookies will be available for purchase.

Mammals & More Animal Encounter
Tuesday, January 3 | 11-11:45am
How much can a sloth eat in a day? And what does an armadillo sound like? Join our special guests from the Flying Fox Conservation Fund to learn about some of the most unique animals in the world and get up close with a sloth, an armadillo, and more! A portion of the proceeds goes towards animal conservation efforts. Ticket includes access to all museum exhibits.
This program will be interpreted in ASL for the deaf and hard of hearing.
All ages welcome!

Family Storybook Yoga
Wednesday, January 4 | 10:30-11:30am
Join our friends at Buddha Belly Kids Yoga for a cozy storybook yoga class with your family! This imaginative yoga class will flow through a sequence of fun and creative poses that embody the story; bringing literature to life. This class provides a medium for families to unplug and bond in the most playful of ways. Children and their grown-ups will interact through moving, breathing, and connecting. All children must be accompanied by a guardian.
Space is limited. Must register online in advance; no drop-ins. Ticket includes access to all museum exhibits.
This class is designed for children ages 2-8 years; however, all ages are most welcome! Family registrations strongly encouraged.

Raptors in Winter Animal Encounter

How do birds stay warm in winter? Join our special friends from Wings and Talons to see all kinds of raptors – from owls to hawks – live and up close! We’ll learn fascinating facts about these species and explore how they stay warm in winter, hunt their prey and play a vital role in the ecosystems around us. Come away with a new understanding and a deep appreciation of these truly wild and wonderful creatures. Ticket includes access to all museum exhibits.

Insect Pinning 101
Saturday, December 17 | 11am-1pm
Take a piece of tropical nature home with you from our workshop led by our associate curator of entomology! Learn the ins and outs of insect pinning with a demonstration and guided instruction on pinning procedure and techniques, using giant butterflies and cockroaches. Leave this workshop with your very own pinned specimens for display.
All materials will be provided.
Teens and adults are welcome to join us for this workshop!
Cost: $55-$65
