Did you know the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum is the public face of the Chicago Academy of Sciences? We are! The Chicago Academy of Sciences was founded on January 13, 1857 and has been dedicated to studying and sharing knowledge about local nature ever since, including opening the first public museum in Chicago in 1869!
Come join us in celebrating that legacy by meeting some of the museum's scientists and collections team members that continue that important work!
-Experience recently unearthed films depicting the methods academy scientists previously used to preserve and study nature, and try them out for yourself with interactive activities!
-Trace the reach the Academy has had through the museum and its education programs: from Field Trips, to Science-on-the-Go, to our TEENS program; and see how these young people have contributed to the museum's collections themselves!
-Explore the museum like never before with an interactive scavenger hunt!
Members enjoy free admission to this event. Tickets include access to all the museum's daily programs and exhibits! Museums For All pricing is available on request.
Experience nature and science up close with a trip to the Nature Museum.
