Join fermentation enthusiast and C3 Expert Rob Kelsey to learn about the basics of cultivating your own home fermentations. You will leave with your own 64oz jar of fruit, water, sugar, and beneficial microorganisms that will turn into tasty fermented sodas.
This workshop is intended for families with children 4 and older.
All fermentation produces trace amounts of alcohol. If procedure is followed properly, alcohol content typically reaches 0.5 percent ABV or less, the same as beverages marked “non-alcoholic” and soft drinks with fermentable sugar content. Alcohol content MAY reach higher ABV (typically 1-3 percent) ESPECIALLY if procedure is not followed correctly.
This workshop is being produced with support of the Chicago Conservation Corps (C3) program. Through C3, the Nature Museum provides training, funding, workshops, and volunteer opportunities that remove barriers to sustainability action for individuals and communities.
