From fast fashion and excessive packaging creating waste, to the fuel consumption of delivery trucks from online retailers and even driving from boutique store to boutique store, the holidays cause a spike in negative environmental impacts. We would like to offer our guests an opportunity to lessen these impacts.
We're inviting local makers whose products are made from natural, recycled and/or up-cycled materials to showcase and sell their merchandise to help all our guests find some sustainable ways to fulfill their holiday needs.
Vendors for 2025 include:
- Restless Creatures - Featuring hand-tooled ornaments, hangable wall art, and garlands made of recycled and reclaimed materials
- The Mulberry Rabbit - Featuring handmade needle felted wool ornaments, pins, snowmen, and gift items
- Sturge Stitch - Featuring beanies, scarves, bandanas, and other winter items
- Crystal Elise Art - Featuring art pieces made of reused mixed media (collages, paintings, zines, prints)
- Flip City / TT's Funhouse - Featuring acrylic paintings of Chicago, upcycled pottery, upcycled embellished jars, frames, and found objects
- Story Lago - Featuring upcycled miniatures, fairy houses, and displays
- Feltwerker Upcycled Accessories - Featuring bags made from secondhand materials
- Maggie Joyce Repurposing - Featuring upcycled wearable adornments and jewelry
- Janie’s Art Journals - Featuring upcycled one-of-a-kind art and writing journals
- Grelaine Art - Featuring encaustic art made with natural materials
- ReFelt - Featuring clothing, jewelry and household items such as blankets, runners and coasters made from repurposed and recycled/upcycled wool and felt
- The Struggling Black Girl Magic Club - Featuring upcycled skate accessories
- From Odds to Ends - Featuring upcycled jewelry
- Majani Restaurant
- Wastenot Compost
The Sustainable Holiday Makers’ Market will take place 10:00am-2:00pm while the museum is open, and be accessible to all museum guests.
We will also be joined by Dog Haus Lincoln Park and Majani Restaurant who will be selling food out of our Science Labs.
There is no extra cost to attend the Sustainable Holiday Makers Market. The Market and food vendors are available to all guests in the museum on the day of the event.
