Step inside, warm up, and discover the quiet beauty of winter from a cozy indoor setting with inspiring views of Chicago and Lake Michigan. In this relaxing 2½-hour beginner class, you’ll learn to create an urban sketch directly from observation — capturing the city’s winter light, skyline silhouettes, and the serene blues and grays of the lake.
Working with a simple, limited watercolor palette, you’ll explore how a few colors can evoke mood, depth, and atmosphere. Through gentle guidance, we’ll move from loose watercolor washed to simple ink linework, focusing on observation, simplicity, and personal expression.
This isn’t about perfection — it’s about taking time to slow down, notice beauty in the everyday, and enjoy the process of creating. You’ll leave with new sketching techniques, a finished winter scene, and a renewed appreciation for the landscape outside your window.
You will have some instruction, demos, and then sketching indoors. All materials provided. Come ready to relax, sketch, and see the city with fresh eyes.
