The ReLeaf Print exhibit showcases the results of a month-long community print-making project in North Lawndale, a collaboration between the Lawndale Pop Up Spot and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum of the Chicago Academy of Sciences. ReLeaf Print blends environmental education, community engagement, and visual arts. It is based on the idea that patterns in nature connect us to each other, our environment and the universe.

A Closer Look
This exhibition is a powerful engagement with nature and printmaking. Throughout the month of May 2025, community members in North Lawndale learned about nature and explored nature-based specimens provided by the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and created relief prints with professional artists Saúl Aguirre, Alexandra Antoine, Rayshawn Nowlin, and Jesús Oviedo. This project is connected to several environmental initiatives in North Lawndale that promote nature-based play for children and sustainability and food justice for children and adults.
The initial iteration of this exhibit was installed at the Lawndale Pop Up Spot, a community museum featuring exhibits by and for the Lawndale community, located at Love Blooms Here Plaza, southwest corner of Central Park Ave. & Douglas Blvd. (3601 W. Douglas Blvd.) in Chicago, Illinois.
To deepen our ties with Chicago's vibrant communities, we're inviting visits and field trips from North Lawndale to experience this installation at the Nature Museum firsthand.
